This Friday, OBREEL will finally be released.

Some collaborations emerge unexpectedly, while others take shape over many years. This album belongs firmly to the latter.

My connection with Pepo Galán goes back several years, during which we contributed collaborative pieces to various Pop Ambient compilations. From the very beginning, I was drawn to his unique ability to combine emotional depth with delicate textures and a remarkable sense of space.

My connection with Markus Guentner reaches back more than two decades. Our paths first crossed in the early days of our careers, when we both released our debut works through Kompakt. What started as a shared passion for electronic music gradually evolved into a lasting friendship and creative exchange that continues to this day. In recent years, Markus has also become an important part of the Affin universe, contributing not only as an artist but also as a designer, collaborator, and trusted source of ideas. Since 2023, we have been working together as Guentner Spieth, resulting in two albums and a remix collection featuring artists whose work has inspired us for many years.

With this history in mind, OBREEL feels like a natural meeting point. Three individual voices, shaped by different experiences and perspectives, coming together through a shared appreciation for atmosphere, restraint, and detail. The music unfolds slowly, revealing its character through subtle movements, evolving textures, and carefully considered spaces. It is an album that embraces reduction, allowing small gestures and quiet moments to carry meaning.
Looking back, I see OBREEL not only as a collaboration, but as the continuation of creative relationships that have developed, deepened, and endured over many years.

I’m grateful to share this journey with Pepo and Markus and excited to finally release this music into the world.
