I recently completed the second sound library in my “Textures” series. This one acts as an acoustic canvas and prepares an interesting sound rich base to design different acoustic projections. All of the included sounds I created specifically for this sound pack and have not appeared or been used anywhere else.
An Affin label showcase I always welcome new music, new connections, new friendships that then come along. In this example, a track premiere by Joachim Spieth at the end of last year made me relisten to his works on Wolfgang Voigt’s Pop Ambient series, taking me to releases on his very own Affin imprint and finally asking him for a mix.
“Textures” is a sound library that I’ve created during Winter 2021. It is a carefully selected collection of cinematic and evolving sounds that can be easily incorporated into your work, but they are primarily intended as a starting point for your own creative process like a painter’s palette of colors. All included sounds were produced for this sound library and have not been used on any of my releases before.
With Ousia, Joachim Spieth presents the third long player on his label Affin. The follow-up album to “Tides” creates imaginary spaces, translates ephemeral impressions and condenses them into cinematic soundscapes. The eight pieces illustrate an intense and emotional journey that creates expressive relationships between external and internal perceptions…
“…After “Tides”, “Ousia” is the second purist ambient album by Joachim Spieth; it is released shortly after his contribution to the latest Pop Ambient 2021 (“Libration” together with Pepo Galán). While “Tides” was still characterized by a continuously present, never-ending carpet of sound – following the image of constantly high tides – “Ouisa” goes a step further: here everything moves in waves that swell and subside again…”
I’m happy to see “Libration”, a collaboration with Spanish artist Pepo Galán, released on the next Pop Ambient compilation. This series is curated by Wolfgang Voigt, who is one of the founders of the Cologne-based Kompakt label and has been releasing groundbreaking works with his project Gas for more than 20 years.
With “Tides” I release my first album that musically processes exclusively ambient sound textures. I am extremely happy to be able to send out the records as of today.
A conversation with bvdub about living in China, his upcoming label “Silent Reign” and his own artworks
Recently I had a conversation with the German “DJ Lab” magazine. The topic was my upcoming album “Tides”, which will soon be released on my label “Affin”. What was very surprising was the detailed knowledge my interview partner had about my musical career, so that this interview partly goes back a long way in time.
After more than a decade I return to the Cologne-based Kompakt label for the anniversary Pop Ambient compilation, celebrating its 20th compilation
My new EP “Astral Plane” contains 3 superficially contrasting tracks that combine ambient sounds with hypnotic beats in different ways. Also included is a video trailer by Jennifer Trees, who created the visuals for Wolfgang Voigt’s Gas project. The record is now available!
Markus Guentner is one of the most important representatives of modern ambient music. With Crystal Castle he published a timeless piece of music on affin
Glad being invited to share my ambient music on a new podcast for A Strangely Isolated Place in the USA
“The Orb virtually invented the electronic genre known as ambient house, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms and providing a soundtrack for early morning ravers once the club closed their doors. A band that hit number one in the UK with their highly influential album U.F.Orb, they joined Back to Mine in 2003 to share with us all another example of their brilliance. This mix ranges in style from the sublime to the bizarre, emphasising something The Orb have always had – a healthy sense of humour…”
