Already in the early phase of Affin, ambient music was part of what we wanted to transport to the public. With the album “Crystal Castle” by Markus Guentner, which was already released in its original version in 2011, as well as some compilations with artist friends such as Gustavo Lamas,
Jiwa announces a part of a project that will be decoded in 2022. In anticipation of this, an interpretation of the track from Joachim Spieth’s Ousia album, which was released in January 2021, is released on Friday 26th November. The track was reworked by zakè, From Overseas and Slow Dancing
Pop Ambient is a compilation series curated by Wolfgang Voigt, of which I was a part from the very beginning. The upcoming one for 2022 contains two collaborations I produced with Markus Guentner and Pepo Galán. The LP/CD will be released on the twelfth of November. Info With the cover
It’s been a while since I published my last techno podcast. Today, one has been published by the Norwegian magazine Monument. Thanks for the kind words to the team!
I recently completed the second sound library in my “Textures” series. This one acts as an acoustic canvas and prepares an interesting sound rich base to design different acoustic projections…
Today we have some news to report. On the one hand, I appeared today for the first time together with my label colleague and friend Toki Fuko as a duo with the title “Variance”, on the other hand, we are also the first time guest on the Spanish Semantica label, which
An Affin label showcase I always welcome new music, new connections, new friendships that then come along. In this example, a track premiere by Joachim Spieth at the end of last year made me relisten to his works on Wolfgang Voigt’s Pop Ambient series, taking me to releases on his very own Affin imprint and finally asking him for a mix.
“Textures” is a sound library that I’ve created during Winter 2021. It is a carefully selected collection of cinematic and evolving sounds that can be easily incorporated into your work, but they are primarily intended as a starting point for your own creative process like a painter’s palette of colors. All included sounds were produced for this sound library and have not been used on any of my releases before.
With Ousia, Joachim Spieth presents the third long player on his label Affin. The follow-up album to “Tides” creates imaginary spaces, translates ephemeral impressions and condenses them into cinematic soundscapes. The eight pieces illustrate an intense and emotional journey that creates expressive relationships between external and internal perceptions…
“…After “Tides”, “Ousia” is the second purist ambient album by Joachim Spieth; it is released shortly after his contribution to the latest Pop Ambient 2021 (“Libration” together with Pepo Galán). While “Tides” was still characterized by a continuously present, never-ending carpet of sound – following the image of constantly high tides – “Ouisa” goes a step further: here everything moves in waves that swell and subside again…”
Affin will be taking over 9128.live on Saturday 9th January 2021, featuring the presentation of Joachim Spieth’s upcoming album “Ousia”, exclusive live sets, label DJs and friends. We’re looking forward to this happening and hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did preparing for this event!
The American label “Mysteries Of The Deep” recently asked me if I would provide a track for the third part of their “Mysteries Compilation”. “Chapter Three” has now been released. I am honoured to be featured alongside artists such as Rafael Anton Irisarri, Thomas Ragsdale and many more.
In 2019, Noctilucent, a project I produced in cooperation with Reggy Van Oers, was released on Affin. Recently, the track “Mammatus” was licensed by Joris Voorn for his mix compilation “Rotterdam”, which has now been released on the label “Global Underground”.
I’m happy to see “Libration”, a collaboration with Spanish artist Pepo Galán, released on the next Pop Ambient compilation. This series is curated by Wolfgang Voigt, who is one of the founders of the Cologne-based Kompakt label and has been releasing groundbreaking works with his project Gas for more than 20 years.
After a promising start to 2020 with performances in Israel, an Affin showcase in Berlin, my first guest performance at Tresor West and a gig in Kiev, the situation changed dramatically in March. For months, no gigs were possible at all. The Art Bei Ton party in September therefore had a special character. Here is the recording of my set.
Back into 2019, at least for some moments… Performing an ambient set at Calma Madrid was one of the most exceptional events last year. Monument now published the recording of my performance!
I finally uploaded the clip of “United We Stream” that was recently broadcasted. It all happened at Climax Institutes in Stuttgart, a venue where I was playing a lot of times on the last 20 years. Thanks to the guys from Panopticum for the invite, was a funny evening. Hopefully we’re
With “Tides” I release my first album that musically processes exclusively ambient sound textures. I am extremely happy to be able to send out the records as of today.
Mika Vainio was one of the artists I discovered at a young age. His unexpected death shocked me. For the anniversary of his death, I put together an hour of his music, which was recently released as a podcast on the Korean Oslated label.
Memories are something nice, and recorded memories are even more beautiful … here you can hear an alcohol-soaked part of my set from the last Affin showcase, for everyone who wasn’t there … Label showcases are always something special and so this was a cool event of the still very young year 2020. Thanks to Art Bei Ton, who gave us the framework, thanks also to everyone who found the way to the Suicide Club Berlin.
Sharing ideas, thoughts, passion and capture it on a record… that’s basically what the Affinity series is about. With the third episode we’d like to share four pieces of music from A Sacred Geometry, Joachim Spieth, Nørbak and Aleja Sanchez.
Vinyl is now shipping
After my Asia tour, a week’s stay in Seoul, this podcast follows as a replica of my gig in the ambient bar (vurt.) Almost 90 minutes in ambient soundscapes.
After more than a decade I return to the Cologne-based Kompakt label for the anniversary Pop Ambient compilation, celebrating its 20th compilation
Just arrived back home after my second Asia tour and I’m still overwhelmed by the impressions regarding the people, venues, places and ideas we shared during the last two weeks. Moreover, it was interesting to observe the developments at Lantern Club (Beijing) and vurt (Seoul) where I already performed 2
Noctilucent” is the first collaboration between Reggy Van Oers and Joachim Spieth after they came into contact with each other more than a decade ago. It is a precisely elaborated project that brings together the characteristics of both artists in a charming way.
My new EP “Astral Plane” contains 3 superficially contrasting tracks that combine ambient sounds with hypnotic beats in different ways. Also included is a video trailer by Jennifer Trees, who created the visuals for Wolfgang Voigt’s Gas project. The record is now available!
I recently had a chat with Angel Bali, the result of which can now be read in the American “Magnetic Magazine”. There is also a podcast that I made for this occasion.
Just arrived back home from an amazing weekend Lviv (Ukraine). Svarog and me were invited from Textura to celebrate a label showcase. After landing in Lviv I went out with the guys to see a bit of the historic monuments of the city. During the weekend I got in touch with nice people, had some interesting chats about the city…
“Luminophor” breathes the air of my last year’s “Irradiance” album, but adds some innovations to the existing concept and includes an enchanting remix by label colleague Svarog.
With Polar Inertia, Dino Sabatini, CHPTR and Evigt Mörker I have a conscientious selection of producers for a remix vinyl EP of my first album “Irradiance”. The record is now ready to be sent out.
Decennium is a vinyl trilogy that is in the context of our 10 year label anniversary. the third and last part consists of pieces by Giorgio Gigli, Deepbass, Periskop and me
“17 years are between the first big exclamation point of Joachim Spieth his debut album Vanishing Point and the Irradiance LP from last year. Spieth links forgotten narrative strands to a satisfying conclusion for the time being only to serve the next cliffhanger.
Irridance is also special because the 8 tracks were the first ever on Spieth’s label Affin Ltd. and then, after 6 years of strong EPs, pull something like a first interim conclusion…”
Irradiance is Joachim Spieth’s first full length album, to be released on his own imprint Affin. It reflects a cycle of realignment in a carefully realized emotional journey. A constant motion through the layers of the tracks shape the sonic landscape, while evolving atmospheres provide a cohesive feel with shimmers of optimism…
…feeling privileged that i had the opportunity to get in touch with so many nice people and the warm welcome in every city! Thanks to the crews of Lantern Beijing, Arkham Shanghai and vurt. Seoul! It was a pleasure to meet you all and i hope to be back soon! For the next trip i just wish to have more time to take some photos.
teaming-up with RVO and Deepbass for the 2nd Affinity vinyl EP
my 2nd vinyl in 2016. Deep, detailed and spherical techno
After a long pause for thought and production, my new EP finds its way to the public. I felt the change that should be. Leaving the old behind, going new ways …ultimately it feels good. And it seems to be the beginning of a new section.
…the moment when someone says to you, “It is the first time that I listen to such music, you opened a world to me tonight” … and when you feel that the other person really feels it and means it the same way. It was a really impressive week that I will not forget! Many thanks to everyone who works at Toy Toy and Vault and accompanied me…

Glad being invited to share my ambient music on a new podcast for A Strangely Isolated Place in the USA

After his acclaimed Sensual EP & some remixes label host Joachim Spieth continues with his passion for chordish techno. The A-side starts with a powerful and energetic remix delivered by G-Man aka Gez Varley, well-known as former member of the legendary Warp-act LFO (besides his successful solo work). Varley is stripping it down and puts a maximum of groove into the track.
Sensual with remixes from Brendon Moeller, RVO and Jamal Moulay on vinyl

…In the same time i started recording my first musical ideas on tapes so i decided to send a demo cassette to Delirium, in hope they would release it or at least give me some feedback. And i was lucky, they listened my tape and called me. 1 year later i got another call from the shop, they liked me last demo and would like to release it on NTA (former label of Kompakt)…
“The Orb virtually invented the electronic genre known as ambient house, resurrecting slower, more soulful rhythms and providing a soundtrack for early morning ravers once the club closed their doors. A band that hit number one in the UK with their highly influential album U.F.Orb, they joined Back to Mine in 2003 to share with us all another example of their brilliance. This mix ranges in style from the sublime to the bizarre, emphasising something The Orb have always had – a healthy sense of humour…”
